Server-based Computing (SBC) is a major alternative to the more traditional way of computing: using Desktop PCs and operating systems. Building up an infrastructure of devices is a time-consuming and costly process. However, with the development of SBC, the management, deployment, and support of applications and data can be performed entirely on the server.
Although existing desktop PCs can also be used, Thin-client terminals have been specifically designed to connect users to the central server farm. Whichever method is chosen, the benefits of SBC are significant.
